Crypto Sake Bottle / Tokkuri

Colorful, heavily-textured handbuilt bottle with stamps; white and ash glaze combine and run together to reveal many varying colors and textures throuhout. Fired in the conversion gas/wood/salt kiln.
 
Original crypto stamps are an exploration of the relationship between information and decoration, the decay of information, and the fetishization of foreign alphabets. Each set of symbols is a coherent and logical progression of a rule or pattern, carved into a clay cube. As such, each set of symbols has six parts or iterations.
