7-day anagama-woodfired decorative "Crypto" plate, with scored rim and stamps from 2 iterations of the Crypto series; iron-rich clay with redart slip, natural fly ash and kiln drips. This plate does not lay flat. Fired 2019 in the Jeff Shapiro anagama.
 
Original crypto stamps are an exploration of the relationship between information and decoration, the decay of information, and the fetishization of foreign alphabets. Each set of symbols is a coherent and logical progression of a rule or pattern, carved into a clay cube. As such, each set of symbols has six parts or iterations.
